Schoolteacher offers one-in-a-lifetime chance to win her house and £10,000 in cash
A schoolteacher is offering a lucky person a once-in-a-lifetime chance to win her house and £10,000 in cash.
Primary school teacher Victoria Perry is offering up her home on the Raffall website and anyone who buys a £2 is in with a chance to win
The property has three bedrooms, a modern kitchen and bathroom and a rear garden with decking and outdoor shed.
Victoria, 33, from Featherstone, near Wakefield, said: “Living alone during pandemic can be quite lonely and it has made me realise I want to move closer to my family.
“I saw someone else do a Raffall prize competition and I thought it would be amazing to get someone else a jump start on the property ladder.
“At the moment, with everything that’s going on with Covid, it’s becoming near impossible for people to buy a house until later on in life.
“I’m lucky that I have been paid throughout this but other people are really struggling, even just to eat let alone save for a house.
“I thought this could be an exciting way to help someone who can’t afford their own home just yet.
“Then I realised that if they don’t have the money for a house they probably won’t have the funds to furnish it too which is why I threw in the £10,000 cash too.”
As well as wining the property and the £10,000 spending money, Victoria is also planing to donate five per cent of the sales to the NHS and £10,000 to a local cat charity.
The Year 2 teacher said: “Once I had come up with the idea to give someone the opportunity to get a house I thought ‘what other good things could come from this’?
“I decided to try to help a few good causes that are close to my heart.
“I support a cat rescue charity called Heronbank Cat Rescue and I help them a lot with things like fostering the cats.
“So I decided that if I, if it all went through then I’d like to give them a donation of 10,000 pounds.
“The I thought with everything that’s going on that I should donate to the NHS as well so and so I decided to put five per cent of the proceeds to the NHS.”
Victoria aims to sell 180,000 tickets priced at £2 each via the Raffall website.
However, she said she will accept 110,000 sold tickets as her minimum.
The prize competition will end on Friday, December 31 at 10am or whenever the last ticket is sold.
If the host fails to provide a prize, the winners will receive a share of the compensation amounting to 75 per cent of all ticket sales.
Victoria said: “This really would be a life-changing prize for whoever wins – and it’s two pounds, you can’t even buy a Starbucks coffee for that.”
