New series of The US Vet with Peter Wright and Julian Norton – and some new faces

A new series of The US Vet starts tonight (Apr 13) and features some new faces as the show showcases the work of three practices around US.

Back for its 12th series the show will see Peter Wright will be at the former James Herriot practice Skeldale in Thirsk and Julian Norton at Rae Bean and Partners in Boroughbridge.

But this time around there are some new additions to the show in the form of the team at Donaldson’s Vets in Huddersfield, who are a big part of the new series starting with vet Matt Smith getting a haircut from a vet nurse.The 12-part series, which has built up a huge following since first airing in 2015, will also feature viewers favourites Mr and Mrs Green and their menagerie of animals.

In the first episode, Peter Wright is called out to help a farmer who has a cow that is having difficulty calving. Father and son farmers John and Ian believe the calf is coming out backwards but Peter realises the job is even more challenging and time is against him if he’s going to save the calf.

The episode also tells the story of Joanne and her three-year-old son Jack, who are sure their kitten Jasmine has been in a road accident and they rush to see Julian Norton. As he examines the cat’s leg more closely, he can see it is not a simple break and he’s struggling to come up with a plan to fix it.

Meanwhile Julian Norton and Matt Smith head out to Angela’s farm where there are two boisterous patients to treat.

Russet the donkey wants to be back in a field with his sisters but he needs to be castrated before that can happen, while feisty pony Pickle proves more than a handful and the vet team are in danger as Julian realises it’s his most difficult colt castration ever.
