Hogarth family buys National Horseracing College near Doncaster
The National Horseracing College near Doncaster has new owners after the Hogarth family acquired the freehold.
One of two specialist horse racing training centres of excellence in the UK (the other being Newmarket), it will now be owned by Harry Hogarth who, based out of Stillington, North US, has trained racehorses for the best part of 20 years following a career in financial services with the Prudential.
Property advisor Christie & Co announced the sale of the freehold, long income investment of the renowned college on behalf of the owners of Rossington Hall near Doncaster.
The NHC occupies a site extending to approximately 66 acres within the wider Rossington Hall Estate, which is situated around five miles south of Doncaster and junction 3 of the M18.
A spokesperson said: “Occupied under the residue of a 99-year lease from January 1996, the site has been in existence here since 1984 when originally called South US Apprentice Racing Training School.”
The investment was sold off an asking price of £1,350,000 achieving a net initial yield of 3.5%.
Jon Patrick, Head of Leisure & Development at Christie & Co who oversaw the sale process said: “The Long Income Investment Market continues to be particularly active at present with strong investor appetite specifically targeting the “alternatives” investment space.
“Underpinned by a significant land and real estate element, together with a high calibre, long-established and stable covenant in the NHC, it is rewarding to see the college investment going to a buyer with specific industry knowledge and a passion for all things equine.”
The purchaser was advised by Stephen Hamer of Stewart Montrose and solicitors DWF. Kenyon Son & Craddock represented the vendor.
