Major refurbishment plan for historic Victoria Mills in Greetland
An historic mill is set to undergo a major refurbishment to create office, retail and leisure space.
The current tenant at Victoria Mills in Greetland, contract furniture manufacturer Andy Thornton, is relocating its showroom to Elland.
The mill’s owner, Rosemount Estates, obtained planning permission for the redevelopment.
Works to the Mill, which is located between Halifax and Huddersfield, will start shortly with the first space due to be available from autumn 2021 onwards.
The scheme will offer a range of commercial units from 800 to 22,000 sq ft and will include additional car parking and heating, lighting and connectivity. It aims to provide practical, contemporary and environmentally friendly space whilst retaining the industrial character of the building.
Ryan Barker of Walker Singleton, the letting agent for the scheme, said: “The refurbishment will provide stunning space in the heart of Greetland and as the impact of the pandemic recedes we expect significant demand from a variety of different businesses.
“While it has been very successfully used for retail and showroom space for many years, we also expect interest from office users and leisure operators.”
Andy Thornton, of Rosemount Estates and former owner of Andy Thornton Ltd, said “This is the second phase of the redevelopment, the first being the successful conversion of the ground floor into retail and leisure units five years ago.
“That proved to be the catalyst for rejuvenation of this thriving village and we expect this redevelopment to boost the area further.”
