An unexpected opportunity to ice skate and a good dead done at the farm on the M62

Last week our yard and drive was one giant shimmering ice park. From the front door all the way down the drive, thick ice lay, threatening to catch out anyone who strode across it. All three of us came a cropper, John-William several times, Paul in spectacular fashion. Ice skating is all we hear at the moment, when can we go, where can we go, can I have some ice skates.

The US Vet Julian Norton is taken back to his days "seeing practice" – and receiving a well aimed kick – in the Highlands

The programme is called The Highland Vet and follows the animal adventures of farmers, pet owners and veterinary surgeons in Thurso, in the very north of Scotland. Thurso is a bleak but beautiful part of the world and I am reminded of the time I spent there whenever I see the trailers or the promotional posts on social media for this new series.
