Disney cruise: how to book a Magic at Sea UK staycation cruise this summer – and what’s the new ‘Wish’ cruise?

It is now possible to book a staycation cruise aboard the Disney Magic

Disney Cruise Line has launched it fifth ship ‘Wish’ (Disney)

Disney Cruise Line has revealed its fifth ship, featuring a double-looping waterslide, a Star Wars bar and a Frozen-themed restaurant.

Residents are invited to stay in cabins inspired by Disney characters, with luxury touches ensuring that guests feel like a Disney Prince or Princess.

The Wish will launch from the United States in 2022, travelling from Florida to the Bahamas.

UK residents don’t have to wait a whole year to enjoy a Disney cruise however with the cruise line earlier confirming that they would be hosting staycation trips on their ship the Disney Magic.

At the end of March Disney Cruise Line announced that it will be offering limited “staycation” sailings in the UK this summer.

There are two, three and four night options available for the domestic cruises, and will depart from London Tilbury, Newcastle, Liverpool and Southampton.

Guests staying on the cruise ship will have to remain aboard for the entire trip, which means no leaving the ship at any point during the cruise.

Since passengers will be required to stay aboard the ship, the Disney Cruise Line has announced a range of entertainment options to keep guests occupied.

On offer for adults are adult-only experiences, such as dining at Palo, cocktails at Fathoms and live music at Keys. Also available are high end spa and salon services and treatments.

For children, there will be kids clubs hosted by trained counselors with an endless range of activities, games and surprises.

Storytelling sessions, interactive games and playgrounds can be found at Disney’s Oceaneer Club. Video games, music and movies will be available at Edge, which Disney describes as “a cool club for tweens”. Teenagers are also invited to socialise in a “parents-free” venue called Vibe.

Families will also have a range of experiences and activities to choose from as well.

UK residents are now able to book a two, three or four-night stay with prices ranging from £659 for two guests on a two night stay, to

£2,481 for two guests on a four night stay.

Holidaymakers can make their booking here.

If you and your family have your heart set on a stateside cruise in 2022 you can book a stay on the Disney Wish from May 2021.

The ship will feature the “first Disney attraction at sea,” the AquaMouse – a water coaster, a Toy Story Splash Zone, and an adult “cove” featuring a bar and infinity pool. Below deck there will be an Oceaneer Club for the kids and a Star Wars themed bar for adults.

Speaking at its unveiling Walt Disney Imagineering Executive Producer Pam Rawlins said “The Disney Wish is our fifth jewel. Each of our ships has a special personality and what inspired is a motif – enchantment. It is entwined in every story that we’ve told through Disney – whether it’s Marvel Disney/Pixar, Star Wars – that enchantment is a part of our life, and we’ve taken that and infused it in every space on the ship.”
